The Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky’s Enzweiler Building Institute announced its period for open enrollment in its programs has begun for the 2016-2017 school year. The program is the longest running privately owned trade school in the nation.
Two-year courses are offered in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), facilities maintenance/remodeling. A four-year course is focused on electric and a one-year course is offered in welding as an incumbent course to add skills for trades people.

“Our industry is hungry for new skilled trades people. Now is the perfect time to consider a career in the trades,” explained Brian Miller, Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky.
“The entire country is at a loss for skilled trades in construction. It is the number one concern that builders have that effects their businesses. Our average trades person is 58 years old; making a career in trades that much more appealing as in the very near future we are going to have a great need for managers and employers in our trades. Entry into the trades now will prepare you to move up into these positions very soon. Wages are on the rise in our fields providing a great opportunity for skilled trades people to earn a livable wage with no student loan debt. What’s more the trades careers are in fields that are in great need today and for the decades to come. Due to our evening schedule the program allows you to earn while you learn,” Miller concluded.
Plumbing, HVAC and Electric courses are focused on licensure with some courses producing graduates with a 100% licensure exam pass rate. As a recognized education provider for licensure with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Enzweiler Building Institute allows enrollees to accelerate their path to licensure by one year for HVAC and Plumbing enrollees and by two years for Electric graduates. Classes are help from September through April in the evenings from 6-9 p.m. The cost to attend the program is approximately $2,000 per year.
Tuition is due upon the first day of class but incentives are given for early payment. A regular school calendar includes expected holidays and breaks just as traditional education. Upon graduation enrollees will earn a certificate from the Home Building Institute, who’s curriculum is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor. Classroom space is limited and early registration is encouraged to ensure entry into the program.
